We provide quality Archery, Muzzleloading and Rifle fair chase hunts for Mule Deer, Elk, Bear and Mountain Lion on the Uncompahgre Plateau in Unit 62.
Two Ways to Hunt with Camp David Outfitting in Unit 62 on the beautiful Uncompahgre Plateau West of Montrose
Upper Ranch: Consists of 4500 acres of premium private land that is positioned between National Forest Land and Bureau of Land Management. Hunters will stay in a Bunkhouse that is equipped with a full bathroom, electricity, and queen sized beds.
Lower Ranch: Consists of 2000 acres of premium private land. To accompany this private land, we also have all of unit 62 BLM permit under permit number CO150-05-115. This permit allows us to hunt from the crop lands to the upper ranch. There is plenty of remote “honey holes” on the BLM that hold some trophy animals. The camp will be set up with a 12x20 outfitter wall tent for the hunters, a guide tent, and a cook tent or a house that is centrally located to the hunting areas.
This lower ranch / tent camp will be operated by Jerad David (Son / owner) and the upper ranch operated by Ray David (Dad / owner). All hunts are fair chase.
Our hunts are set up for three clients per archery and muzzleloader in each camp. The rifle hunts will have four clients in each camp. Our guide ratio is at least one guide per three hunters during archery and muzzleloader seasons and two guides per four hunters during the rifle seasons.
We prefer to do fully guided hunts for five day archery hunts, five day muzzleloader hunts and four day rifle hunts. Deer licenses are by draw only and have to be applied for before April 01. Elk licenses are over the counter for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th seasons. Muzzleloader and 1st rifle Elk licenses are by draw only. We do have some landowner vouchers available for the Mule Deer hunters.
We feel that we can provide a quality hunt for everyone regardless of your budget. We can accommodate you if you fly in to Montrose (MTJ) or drive to Camp David. We guarantee you a 1st class, very clean and comfortable camp with great food and beverages. You will get the “Camp David” treatment and become more than a client to our family based operation.
